Monterez Golf & Country Club

介绍: Monterez Golf & Country Club adopted the concept of Maya civilization, renowned as one of the most advanced civilisations the world has ever seen and created a highly sophisticated style of art and architecture.
The essence of these ancient traditions is reflected in Monterez's architecture, lifestyle and culture. The traditions of an ancient world are rediscovered to create an unforgettable experience in modern leisure living.
A sheer reflection of Maya civilization is revealed significantly in Monterez newsletter, murals, and name of outlets e.g. Mayan, Madera , Montebello , Sunterez, Pedro, etc. The contour of El Castillo (also known as Pyramid of Kukulcan) is reflected in the design of Monterez Clubhouse, archway, corporate logo and landscape.

Hole No. 1, Par 4 - 330 metres |
The opening hole at Monterez is short but tricky. An accurate drive is required on the narrow fairway that hugs a pond on the right with OB on the left. While golfers may reach out for the no. 1 wood, the safer option is for a 5-wood or 3-iron. It's nice to start off your round on a dry note! |

Hole No. 2, Par 4 - 356 metres |
Designated as the toughest hole on the course, a variety of hazards come into play even off the tee. The pond runs on the right all the way to the green but it is the series of bunkers cutting across the fairway at the landing area that poses most problems. Golfers may aim left to avoid the sand but the nearby hill slope will always provide difficult lies. And the rough there is tough. It is wise to set yourself up for a bogey. |

Hole No. 3, Par 3 - 171 metres |
A very good test for club selection. The teeing area is slightly elevated so you get a grand view of even the first and second holes. The green slopes from left to right and to the back with bunkers guarding both sides. The water hazard in front of the teeing area does not really come into play. |

Hole No. 4, Par 5 - 519 metres |
An interesting horseshoe-shaped hole that doglegs left continuously to the green. The brave long hitters will try and cut as much of the corner as possible but the maturing trees and OB may convince them otherwise. Having negotiated both corners, the approach to the green has to avoid a pair of bunkers fronting the putting surface. |

Hole No. 6, Par 4 - 304 metres |
This is one of the easier holes on the course playing downhill to a blind green nestled in a basin-like setting. A good drive will set up a lofted short iron approach to a heavily-trapped green. |

Hole No. 7, Par 4 - 321 metres |
A good golf hole. It plays uphill and doglegs left. Towering trees at the dogleg will prevent long hitters from attempting taking the shortcut while a series of bunkers on the right of the landing area will demand an accurate drive off the tee. Care is needed on the two-tiered green. |

Hole No. 8, Par 4 - 338 metres |
A lot of water comes into play on this relatively doglegged right short hole. A long drive with clearance of at least 180 metres is required to carry the water hazard. The long hitter will also attempt to take on the bunker as well, leaving only a wedge onto long and narrow green. |

Hole No. 9, Par 4 - 302 metres |
Short but testy. The drive has to carry two small ponds and avoid bunkers and OB on the left. The green can be nasty - depending where the pin is and where your ball ends up on the putting surface. |

Hole No. 10, Par 5 - 473 metres |
You need a really good drive to set yourself up for a birdie chance on this short par 5. This hole doglegs to the right but forget about taking the short cut off the tee because any slice will end up in either water or OB. A bunker in front of the green is likely to catch anything that comes up slightly short. |

Hole No. 11, Par 4 - 293 metres |
Water on the left of this short hole doesn't really come into play but the bunker on the right of the landing area will catch wayward tee shots. Anything from a 3-iron to a 3-wood will suffice off the tee box. The green can be deceptive for the first-timers. |

Hole No. 12, Par 3 - 150 metres |
Don't be fooled by this relatively short hole. It plays all the way uphill onto a long and elevated two-tiered green. Between pin positions at the front and at the back the difference in club selection can almost be three clubs. Three putting is common here. |

Hole No. 13, Par 5 - 414metres |
Probably the shortest par 5 in the region at 414 metres. The elevated tee box provides a grand view of the hole. Caution is advised on the tee-shot as the relatively wide fairway is bordered by out-of-bounds on both sides. A long iron or fairway wood is needed to reach a tough green that is well guarded by bunkers and a partially hidden water hazard on the left. |

Hole No. 14, Par 4 - 335 metres |
This is a straight forward hole that works uphill towards a very tricky, three-tiered green. Either a 9-iron or pitching wedge will suffice for the approach but the birdies will be hard to come by, thanks to the severe breaks and undulating surface. Par is very satisfactory here. |

Hole No. 15, Par 3 - 159 metres |
This hole plays downhill onto a demanding green that slopes right to left, back to front. The trick to scoring well on this green is to keep the ball well below the cup. Bunkers guard both sides of this demanding green. |

Hole No. 16, Par 4 - 362 metres |
Another good golf hole. The landing area on this doglegged left fairway is guarded on the right by two bunkers. Those attempting to cut the corner will realize the dogleg is quite out of reach and could end up in a grove of trees or worse, a hidden water hazard way left and out of sight from the tee box. |

Hole No. 17, Par 4 - 325 metres |
A nice hole to flex those muscles and give it a good whack. A well-positioned drive will leave only a wedge approach towards a green well guarded by bunkers. The green is long and very undulating and could demand some caution with that putter. |

Hole No. 18, Par 4 - 382 metres |
What seems like a simple finish to the round could turn horribly wrong on the green. Again, accuracy with a 3-iron, 5-iron or 3-wood will suffice to find the narrow fairway. First-timers to Monterez will realize that short holes do not necessarily conjure up birdie chances and the 18th green is a great example. The putting surface is very undulating with valleys and breaks that could intimidate even the low handicappers. |
